Our Auxerrois demi-sec ‘Les Grandes Plantées’
How to describe Auxerrois demi-sec? Auxerrois is a white grape variety native to Lorraine, which also thrives in Alsace and the Loire Valley, where it took off in 1950. Its name comes from the nurseries in Auxerre where it found refuge during the Second World War.
Wines made from Auxerrois have finesse, acidity and subtle aromas of exotic fruits, fruits and white flowers. Within the estate, this grape variety allows us to make two different cuvées: our cuvée "Les Grandes plantées", the only demi-sec we offer, and our sparkling wine "L'Effrontée".
What are the specificities of our Auxerrois? We asked Ambre Krebs, our oenologist, for her opinion: "The Auxerrois, a forgotten and little-known grape variety, is a grape variety that surprises by its singularity and its assets. It is characterised by its power and balance. Harvested when over-ripe and vinified with 17g of residual sugar, the grapes of the estate are only sublimated. Notes of passion fruit combined with aromas of candied citrus surprise and excite the taste buds.
This wine is full-bodied and powerful, subtly held together by a natural acidity, which will whet the most discerning taste buds. From the neophyte to the connoisseur, tasting this wine will arouse all curiosities. The Auxerrois Demi-Sec is only perceived as an aperitif wine, but its gustatory qualities make it very pleasant with fish or grilled white meats. We advise you to drink it well chilled.
And, surprise of the day! In order to help you discover this unusual grape variety in Burgundy, we are offering you a 15% discount on all your Auxerrois orders until 31 May 2021. We look forward to your feedback 🍷
