The Terroir
The climate of the Brionnais, an age-old land of forgotten vines, gives the wines of La Roche des Bancs their authenticity and uniqueness.
Roche des Bancs sits on the south-east facing hillsides of Burgundy, on well drained subsoil composed of Toarcian limestone and benefitting from a higher altitude than most of traditional winegrowing Burgundy. Indeed, the limestone and stony soil of the Brionnais hillsides benefits from a sunshine and a micro-climate which favour the maturation of the grapes. It has a unique plant biodiversity linked to the absence of monoculture of the vine. The wines of the estate are embeded within the most beautiful natural environment and have been organically cultivated since 2011. This unique climate and geographical situation produces clean and sensual wines of great purity. Crisp, dry whites with an elegant minerality and red wines bursting with fruitiness.
